Dark Souls: Artorias Of The Abyss DLC dated for consoles | Den of ...

Dark Souls, praised as one of the best games released last year, hasn?t exactly fared well on the PC, which it was released on in August. From Software, developers of the punishing Action RPG, ran into various issues with the port, including the infamous resolution limitation and the failure to eliminate the irksome slowdown present in the console original. The issues were bad enough to fire up home-brew modders to fix the problems, and now the game is far more accepted by the PC community.

One thing that From Software did get right with the PC port was delivering a raft of extra content not present in the original release. This content added around 10 hours to the core game, along with new weapons and items, and NPCs along with, of course, new challenging boss encounters, Dark Souls? pi?ce de r?sistance.

Well, although they?ve been left out in the cold for a while, console players can now also get in on the action, as the Artorias of the Abyss DLC has been officially announced.

Set to arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 via Xbox Live and PSN on October 23 in North America and everywhere else the next day, the DLC will set players back around $15 on PS3 and 1,200 MS Points on Microsoft?s box. This will no doubt prompt some Interwebs raging, as many will expect free DLC (after all, the ?vanilla? console was more expensive than the PC, ?Prepare To Die? edition), but if the DLC does, indeed, offer 10 hours of gameplay, extra items and bosses and an improved PvP system, it may be welcomed by die hard fans.

A console version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition will also be released with the extra content as a boxed title a couple of days later on October 26. So, if you?ve yet to sample the greatness of Dark Souls, now?s a very good time to do so.
