As sales of the first-gen iPad Mini seem to be on the decline Apple could push forward the new iPad mini 2 release date, and with talk about this device having a Retina display their new product may entice more custom. While some iPad mini 2 rumours suggest Apple could release it early, others give us the impression that there could be two versions with an upgraded Retina display version coming out at a later date.

We are unsure at the moment, although there has been talk about Apple?s intention for a rounded rectangle patent with details of a patent emerging. A source from the company has spoken out about the demand for the current iPad mini declining and report on Bloomberg mentions the downgraded revenue guidance, which was recently issued by Apple contractor Pegatron.

Apparently, revenue and demand has gone down so much that there has been a 30% drop in revenue for the June quarter. An interesting article on Bloomberg highlights the falling demand and further forecasts suggest this will continue as they document statistics since the first-gen iPad Mini was released.

According to Pegatron Chief Executive Officer Jason Cheng it is not just tablets that are experiencing this with other products including e-books and games consoles also moving in a negative direction. Do you feel Apple need to bring out the iPad mini 2 as soon as possible? Alternatively, what is your view on two versions considering the Retina display is what people want?
